Although we are called The Elizabethan Singers our repertoire goes far beyond music from the 16th and 17th centuries.  We really enjoy singing this, but equally we love a wide range of music from the Baroque period to the present day.

We have a large sacred repertoire, and in recent concerts have sung Vivaldi’s Gloria, Fauré’s Requiem and Dvořák’s Mass in D.

A particular passion is singing high quality harmony arrangements of 20th century popular music.  This includes songs from the golden era of Broadway, including the unforgettable music of Gershwin and Cole Porter.

Whatever our programme, our aim is to make music expressive, exciting and accessible through enthusiastic, vibrant performances.

We are always looking for new members who share our passion.

We rehearse roughly fortnightly on Sunday evenings. We have an enormous repertoire, so singers need to have good sight reading ability.

As a chamber choir of around 40 voices, the Lincoln Chorale enjoys rehearsing and performing a wide classical repertoire, ranging from small scale unaccompanied works to settings for double choir with orchestra.

Their programmes are often themed and include contrasting pieces from a variety of styles and periods. Recent performances have included Bach’s St John Passion, Requiems by Schumann , Victoria and Howells, and smaller pieces ranging from the 16th to 21st centuries by composers as varied as Palestrina, Tomkins, Bruckner, Macmillan and Sumsion.

The choir performs in venues both in the city of Lincoln and around the County, having visited Louth and Stow in recent years. It also has strong links with the Neustadter Stiftskantorei in Lincoln’s twin city of Neustadt an der Weinstrasse in Germany and visited them for a few days in October 2010. Since its first performance in 1977, the choir has established a reputation for a high quality of performance of demanding and interesting repertoire. Many of the members have been with the group for over 20 years and are still enjoying being challenged by new music on their Tuesday night rehearsals.

We are always keen to talk to prospective new members, so if you want to enjoy singing to a high standard, contact us.

Let your light shine!!

The aim of Sleaford's community choir is to form a three or four-part choir which is self-funded.
Sleaford's new community choir is open to all comers, young and old, experienced and new to share the joy of singing and promote a true community spirit.
There are no auditions, but the goal is to always improve on quality of sound and repertoire.
As a singing teacher/ vocal coach of more than 30 year's experience, it is my wish to encourage good quality singing and pass on to the singers, vocal techniques that will aid them to progressively take on a wider repertoire of choral music both sacred and secular including musical theatre.
Let your voice be heard.
